Project: 535 + 89A New Kiosk Installation
Location: Arizona
Description: On May 16, 2026, 20 volunteers came together to install a new two-panel educational kiosk and accompanying signs at the entry point of a high-use OHV trail near the popular “Edge of the World” route in Arizona. The project also included cleanup efforts throughout the surrounding forest and trail system.
This installation complements another educational kiosk previously installed in 2024 through the support of the Overland Expo Foundation, helping ensure that the full route to “Edge of the World” now provides visitors with consistent access to maps, trail education, and responsible recreation messaging. Updated maps of legalized trails, outdoor ethics information, and stewardship messaging are now prominently displayed for recreational users entering the area.
In addition to the kiosk installation, volunteers conducted extensive cleanup efforts across nearly six miles of trails and surrounding forest areas. Through the collective efforts of the volunteer team, approximately 500 pounds of garbage were removed and properly disposed of, helping restore and protect this heavily visited recreation area.
This project improved visitor education, encouraged responsible OHV recreation, and strengthened long-term stewardship efforts within the Coconino National Forest.
